A prominent People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader in Ekiti State, Dr. Oluwole Oluyede, has praised Governor Biodun Oyebanji for distributing 100 operational vehicles to security agencies, describing the move as a major boost to the state’s security framework.
Oluyede, who was the PDP candidate in the June 20 governorship election, said the vehicles would significantly improve the mobility, visibility, and rapid response capacity of security personnel across Ekiti.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti, the PDP chieftain urged security agencies to deploy the vehicles effectively to safeguard lives and property, stressing that security is a shared responsibility that transcends political affiliations.
“The decision by the Oyebanji administration to provide vehicles to the Nigeria Police Force, Nigerian Army, Civil Defence Corps, DSS, and local security outfits underscores the importance attached to the safety of Ekiti residents,” Oluyede stated.
He emphasized that peace and security are the foundation of development, noting that businesses and investments thrive only in a safe environment.
He called on traditional rulers, community leaders, youth groups, and religious bodies to support security agencies with credible information to help prevent crime.
Oluyede also commended security operatives for their sacrifices despite difficult working conditions, urging stronger collaboration among agencies through intelligence sharing and coordinated operations.
Governor Oyebanji had earlier handed over the vehicles as part of efforts to strengthen security operations and prepare for the eventual take-off of the proposed Ekiti State Police.
