The Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by the Oyo State Government to investigate the abduction of students and teachers in Esinele and Yawota communities, Oriire Local Government Area, is expected to submit its report today.
Commissioner for Information Prince Dotun Oyelade disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Ibadan on Tuesday.
He said Governor Seyi Makinde will formally receive the commission’s report at the Executive Council Chamber, Governor’s Office, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan.
The event is scheduled to begin at 12 noon, with top government officials, security chiefs, religious leaders, labour representatives and other stakeholders expected to attend.
Representatives of the affected communities and schools will also be present, including the Principal of Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele, Mrs Racheal Alamu; Headmaster of Baptist Basic School, Yawota, Mr Adejumo Gabriel; and Headteacher of Local Authority Basic School, Ahoro-Esinele, Mr Oke Jacob Sunday.
Oyelade recalled that Makinde inaugurated the Judicial Commission of Inquiry on July 31, 2026, with a mandate to investigate and uncover the circumstances surrounding the abduction.
The commission was set up after bandits attacked three schools, Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary School, and L.A. Primary School in Oriire Local Government Area on May 15, 2026. The attack led to the abduction of 39 pupils and seven teachers, including Mrs Alamu.
The victims were held for 56 days within the Old Oyo National Park before their release on July 10, 2026.
Two teachers, Michael Oyedokun and Adesiyan Adegboye, lost their lives in the incident.
