The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi, has called on northern political power brokers to support President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027, stressing that the move would uphold fairness and strengthen ties between the North and South-West.
In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Alli Ibraheem, the monarch highlighted the historical bond between the two regions, noting that the South-West had supported former President Muhammadu Buhari during his eight years in office.
He urged the North to reciprocate by ensuring Tinubu completes two terms.“President Bola Tinubu, being a Yoruba man from the South-West, deserves eight years in office after his predecessor, late Muhammadu Buhari, a northerner, who also spent eight years,” Oba Akanbi said.
He described the North and South-West as “perfect role models for a united Nigeria,” emphasizing that their relationship should transcend political rivalry.
The monarch also linked his royal marriage to Northern Nigeria as a symbol of unity.Oba Akanbi expressed confidence that power rotation would cement national unity and give Tinubu sufficient time to implement reforms.
“The eight years will allow the President to complete his reformative policies that will benefit all Nigerians, irrespective of political or cultural affiliations,” he added.
