Dr. Obiuwevbi Ominimini, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) House of Representatives candidate for Ughelli/Udu Federal Constituency, has accused Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of orchestrating an attack on his supporters during a campaign rally in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area.
The incident reportedly occurred during the “1,000,000-Man March for NDC Candidates, 5-over-5” procession.
According to Ominimini, armed thugs disrupted the peaceful march, assaulting party members in what he described as a deliberate attempt to intimidate NDC supporters ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We hold Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the APC responsible for mobilising thugs to attack our members during the peaceful 1,000,000-Man March in Effurun,” Ominimini stated, condemning the incident as an assault on democracy.
He urged security agencies to investigate and ensure justice is served.Despite the violence, Ominimini affirmed that NDC members remain committed to their campaign and will not be deterred.
He called on supporters to stay peaceful and law-abiding while continuing to mobilise voters across Delta State.
As of press time, neither the Delta State Government nor the APC had issued an official response to the allegations.
