The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, has accused Governor Seyi Makinde of paralysing the local government system in the state.
In a statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of his campaign organisation, Bisi Oladele, Alli claimed the governor lacks confidence in the local government system, which is why it is not functioning effectively under his administration.
Makinde is the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for the 2027 general elections, while Alli currently represents Oyo South Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
Alli listed the alleged paralysis of the local government system as one of the key failings of Makinde’s seven-year tenure.
“Nigerians are not naive to surrender the presidency to a man notorious for paralyzing local governments, which are effective channels of grassroots development,” he said.
“APM’s Makinde is averse to the third tier of government in Nigeria, and this is evident in his seven-year anti-local government administration in Oyo State.”
