Kwara Govt Clears Promotion Backlog for Civil Servants, Agency Staff


The Kwara State Government has approved the implementation of outstanding promotions for workers across the state civil service and related agencies.


In a memo released on Thursday, Acting Head of Service Dr Olufunke Shittu announced that the government has greenlit the 2025 promotion exercise for staff in the mainstream civil service, as well as the 2024 and 2025 promotion exercises for employees of agencies, parastatals, and media houses. 


The decisions take effect from September 1, 2026.Shittu explained that the approvals followed the completion of required processes by the Civil Service Commission and the affected establishments, along with formal endorsement by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. 


For workers in agencies, parastatals, and media houses, the move covers both the 2024 and 2025 exercises after assessment of the associated financial implications.


Financial benefits from the 2025 promotions for mainstream civil servants will also begin from September 1, 2026.


The Acting Head of Service described the approvals as part of the AbdulRazaq administration’s efforts to enhance workers’ welfare, boost motivation, raise productivity, and support career progression in the state public service. 


She expressed appreciation for the government’s ongoing commitment to staff welfare and development.
