Lere Olayinka, spokesman for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, clashed with ARISE Television anchor Rufai Oseni during a live broadcast of The Morning Show on Friday.
Olayinka bluntly refused to respond to Oseni’s questions, insisting he preferred to engage only with “reasonable human beings.”
The confrontation appeared to stem from Olayinka’s objection to Oseni’s alleged use of the term “emudani” in reference to certain individuals.
Earlier in the programme, Oseni had asked Olayinka to explain why former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Betta Edu, was included in the presidential campaign council despite facing corruption allegations.
Olayinka dismissed the question, saying: “I’m very sorry to say this, Oseni Rufai, I don’t want to answer any question from you. I want this conversation to be among reasonable human beings, people who will not come and describe other people as ‘emudani.’"
The exchange highlighted ongoing tensions between political spokespersons and journalists, raising fresh debate about media accountability and political communication in Nigeria’s public discourse.
