Some political associates and former allies of the immediate past Kaduna State Governor, Nasiru El-Rufai, have returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and declared support for the incumbent governor, Senator Uba Sani, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Among those reportedly aligning with the Uba Sani-led
political camp are Bashir Saidu, a former Chief of Staff to El-Rufai, and Abdu
Kwari, a former commissioner in the state and former senator.
Others include Nasir Abdullahi Maikano, a former chairman of
the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kaduna State and a three-term member of the
Kaduna State House of Assembly, who represented Ungwan Sanusi Constituency.
Also listed is Moukhtar Isa Hazo, a former Deputy Speaker of
the Kaduna State House of Assembly, alongside other grassroots politicians
across the state.
The development comes amid ongoing political realignments in
Kaduna ahead of the 2027 elections and could strengthen Governor Uba Sani’s
position within the APC.
The politicians had, at various times, been associated with
El-Rufai’s political camp, making their reported decision to align with the
incumbent governor notable in the context of the emerging 2027 political
landscape.
A former commissioner in Kaduna State, Jafaru Ibrahim Sani,
who confirmed the development to our correspondent, said the politicians had
decided to move together.
“It’s true, we are going together with them,” he said.
The latest realignment is expected to fuel further political
discussions in Kaduna as political actors position themselves ahead of the 2027
elections.
It also signals possible shifts in the balance of political
influence among competing camps within and outside the ruling APC in the state.
