APC chieftain and former presidential spokesperson Bashir Ahmad has called on supporters of the “Tinubu Must Go” campaign to conduct their activities peacefully while respecting the rights of those who support the president’s continued stay in office.
In a post on his official X account on Tuesday, Ahmad responded to the growing movement and the insulting remarks that have accompanied some of its activities. He stressed that democratic participation includes the freedom to back or oppose any candidate or government, but that personal attacks and insults do not determine election outcomes.
“Do your Tinubu Must Go in peace and allow those of us with Tinubu Must Stay to do ours in peace as well,” he wrote. “That is democracy, everyone has the right to support or oppose a candidate or government. At the end of the day, elections are decided by numbers in the ballot box, not by who throws the most insults.”
The “Tinubu Must Go” movement has recently attracted wider attention, with some prominent politicians, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, publicly associating themselves with it.
