The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has warned the public against dealing with impostors who are presenting themselves as candidates and leaders of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also stated that it has not joined any coalition or entered into any working arrangement with other political parties for the 2027 polls.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja, the party’s founder, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, said certain individuals who had been expelled from the NNPP, a fact confirmed by court judgments and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), were parading themselves as party leaders in order to extort money from unsuspecting political parties and candidates.
Describing the NNPP as independent, Aniebonam advised anyone who may have been defrauded by these impostors to seek a refund from them.
“All contestants, coalitions, or political parties who may have been duped should go back to the impostors for a refund of the money paid as contestants’ fees or for alliance.“
"The authentic NNPP with basket of fruits logo is not a member of any coalition. It stands to reason that as a national political party, we are independent,” he said.
Aniebonam added that the party would announce any decisions on strategic alliances with other political parties for the 2027 general elections if the need arises.
He listed the authentic leaders authorised to speak and take decisions on behalf of the NNPP as recognised by INEC: Dr Boniface Aniebonam (Founder and Chairman, Board of Trustees), Dr Agbo Major (National Chairman), Mr Oginni Olaposi (National Secretary), Prince Toyese (National Treasurer), and Aisha Kade Onyia (National Woman Leader).
