Senate President Godswill Akpabio has called on the people of Akwa Ibom State to rally behind President Bola Tinubu and Governor Umo Eno as the nation prepares for the 2027 general elections.
Akpabio made the appeal on Wednesday in Uyo during events marking the 39th anniversary of Akwa Ibom’s creation.
The former governor praised Eno’s leadership, commending his commitment to peace, rural development, economic growth, and the welfare of citizens through the ARISE Agenda.
“The progress of Akwa Ibom must always rise above partisan considerations. Every generation of leaders has a duty to add another storey to the edifice handed down to it,” Akpabio said.
He expressed confidence that Tinubu would secure strong support from the South-South region, describing the President as “a friend of the zone.”
Reflecting on Akwa Ibom’s journey since its creation in 1987, Akpabio credited the resilience of its people for the state’s growth. He also recalled his tenure as governor, highlighting the “Uncommon Transformation” era as proof of what visionary leadership could achieve.
“The task before us is not merely to celebrate how far we have travelled, but to imagine how much farther we can go. Akwa Ibom is rising. And together, we shall continue to build a future worthy of the dreams of our founding fathers,” he declared.
The Senate President urged citizens to look beyond the anniversary celebrations and focus on building opportunities for youth, enterprise, and innovation.
