Three siblings, including 11-year-old twins, have been found dead on a farm around Owena Army Barracks in Ondo state.
Abayomi Jimoh, spokesperson for the Ogun state police
command, said the incident occurred on Sunday.
The victims were identified as Joshua Jonah, 11; his twin
brother, Jacob Jonah, 11; and their five-year-old sister, Blessing Jonah.
According to Jimoh, the children had accompanied their
father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday, but they later left to return
home.
He said their father became worried after getting back home
to discover that the children were missing, prompting a search operation.
Jimoh added that the bodies of the three siblings were
eventually found on Saturday, September 5, “around the bank of a small river
within the farm”.
He said the police had commenced efforts to establish the
circumstances surrounding their deaths.
Felix Ohagwu, commissioner of police in the state, has
ordered an investigation into the incident.
The command said it was “diligently documenting all
available facts and circumstances surrounding the unfortunate occurrence” to
determine the cause of the children’s deaths.
Ohagwu also commiserated with the bereaved family and
assured them of the police command’s commitment to establishing all relevant
facts surrounding the tragedy.
