Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have disrupted Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) logistics after recovering improvised explosive device (IED) materials, medical supplies and drugs in Borno State.
The items were seized during a clearance operation in the Kareto general area on Sunday, according to a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
Troops of 5 Brigade, working with hybrid forces, moved into the area at about 10am after receiving credible intelligence that ISWAP fighters were operating there.
The troops encountered suspected terrorists during the operation, but the militants retreated after sighting the advancing forces and their allies.
“The recovered items included materials suspected to be used in making IEDs, as well as a large quantity of medical supplies and drugs believed to have been intended for ISWAP fighters,” Makama stated.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by Operation HADIN KAI to prevent terrorist groups from establishing bases and maintaining their supply lines in the North-East.
