Troops Destroy IEDs Planted on Gwoza-Wala Road in Borno

Troops of the 26 Task Force Brigade Garrison have uncovered and destroyed two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted along the Gwoza-Wala Road in Borno State.

Security expert Zagazola Makama disclosed the development in a post on X, noting that the explosives were discovered at about 8:50 a.m. on August 2 during routine patrols between the Golf Bravo and Papa 2 locations.

According to military sources, the area was immediately secured after detection, and an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team was deployed to the scene. The specialists successfully recovered the devices and carried out a controlled detonation, eliminating the threat without casualties or damage.

Officials said the operation prevented a potential attack on security personnel and civilian road users. They added that clearance and route-sanitisation operations are ongoing across the North-East to deny terrorists the ability to plant explosives along major supply routes.
