Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu following his victory in the 15 August 2026 governorship election.INEC declared Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, the winner on Sunday after he secured 511,067 votes against APC’s Bola Oyebamiji (444,815).
Speaking to journalists after the formal declaration, Adeleke confirmed that the President had called to congratulate him. He described the outcome as a victory for democracy and the people of Osun.
“I want to seize this opportunity to thank Mr President. Mr President has called me and he has congratulated me. Thank you, Mr President, for making sure democracy lives on because you fought for it,” the governor said.
Earlier, Accord Party chieftain Pelumi Olajengbesi had disclosed that Tinubu contacted Adeleke on Saturday night before the final results were announced to offer his congratulations.
“Even before the result was declared yesterday night, Mr. President called Mr. Governor and congratulated him, and that is good leadership,” Olajengbesi told journalists at the INEC collation centre in Osogbo.
