The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers and uncovered a hideout in Ikara Local Government Area, following intelligence provided by an escaped victim and members of the public.
Police spokesperson DSP Mansir Hassan said the victim, who was abducted earlier in the week, identified a house in Dogon Pako Village belonging to 65‑year‑old Ja’e Samalu as the location where he was held captive.
Acting on the report, officers from the Ikara Division, working with local vigilantes, raided the property and arrested six suspects aged between 20 and 65.
Hassan confirmed that the suspects are in custody while investigations continue to determine their individual roles in the crime.
He added that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the criminal network.
Commissioner of Police Muhammad Rabiu commended the swift response of the operatives and the vigilance of residents, urging communities to remain alert and report suspicious activities.
He warned that criminal groups often exploit residential buildings as hideouts, stressing that timely information-sharing is vital to dismantling such networks.
The command reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property, while encouraging citizens to support law enforcement efforts against kidnapping and other violent crimes.
