The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 suspects believed to be involved in the trade of human body parts, recovering grisly exhibits including a suspected human heart, flesh, skull fragments, and charms.
Police spokesperson DSP Olayinka Ayanlade confirmed the arrests in Ibadan on Saturday, noting that the operation followed months of intelligence gathering and surveillance by the command’s monitoring unit.
The suspects were apprehended at separate hideouts in Iseyin and Saki.“Following their arrest, operatives conducted searches of the suspects’ hideouts, during which several suspected human parts were recovered,” Ayanlade stated.
He added that the exhibits have been secured for forensic examination.The suspects are currently assisting investigators in tracing the source and intended use of the recovered items, while efforts continue to apprehend other members of the syndicate.
Commissioner of Police Abimbola Olugbenga commended the operatives for their professionalism and assured residents that the command remains committed to protecting lives and dismantling criminal networks across the state.
