Henry Okoye, the eldest brother of the defunct music duo P-Square, has revealed that their late mother, Josephine Okoye, did not support Jude Okoye taking over management of the group.
Speaking in an interview with social commentator 'Jos Connection' at the family’s residence in Plateau State, Henry recounted his early role in sponsoring Peter and Paul’s music career before Jude became involved.
“When they started music, they were looking for sponsors. They didn’t see any. When I started sponsoring them, Jude was not there,” Henry said. He recalled taking the brothers to performances, funding their travels, and even acting as their bodyguard.
“We just took it as a family thing but we knew that it’s Peter and Paul that own it. We were only supporting them.”
Henry alleged that Jude’s later involvement disrupted earlier agreements, including a promised 20 per cent share for him.
“Jude intervened and dismissed that. I challenged him that he wasn’t there when we started everything but now chasing everybody away from them,” he added.
He also expressed disappointment at Paul’s change in attitude, noting that he once considered him “the nicest person in the family.” While Henry said he would welcome a reunion of the brothers, he doubted it would happen.
Mrs. Okoye passed away in July 2012 following heart surgery in India. Since then, P-Square has split and reunited multiple times, with their most recent fallout occurring in 2024.
Jude Okoye was later arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in 2025 over alleged fraud, a case still in court.
Henry urged Jude to help restore harmony within the family, stressing that reconciliation would benefit everyone.
