Nigerian activist Omoyele Sowore has taken aim at Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, following his recent visit to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
Davido, alongside his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, met Wike at his Abuja residence on Thursday.
A short video circulating on social media showed the singer joking with Wike about the outcome of the Osun governorship election.
Reacting on his X handle, Sowore accused Davido of “genuflecting before Wike” despite reports of violence and killings during the election. He described both men as “political hustlers,” alleging that their interests converge behind the scenes despite public disagreements.
“Nigerian political hustlers will deceive the public, and the gullible will swallow the deception whole. Here is the loud and lousy @davido genuflecting before Nyesom Wike, barely a week after their ‘agreement is agreement’ election politics in Osun, a contest marred by deadly violence and the loss of scores of lives,” Sowore wrote.
He further labelled them “dissemblers, gerrymanderers, carpetbaggers, political hustlers, lying machines,” insisting that their actions expose the contradictions in Nigeria’s political culture.
Reports had earlier indicated that supporters of both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Accord Party were killed before and during the Osun election.
