Afrobeat star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has been banned from performing in Edo State following a heated exchange with Governor Monday Okpebholo over the recently concluded Osun governorship election.
The Senior Special Assistant on Digital Media to Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, Apostle Kassy Chukwu, has said Davido should not expect to perform in the state for the remainder of the governor’s tenure, amid the ongoing dispute between the singer and the governor.
Chukwu made the declaration in a video shared on YouTube by Peniel TV International Benin City, Nigeria, on Thursday.

In response, Davido mocked the governor’s academic record by posting his WAEC result on Instagram.
Speaking later in an interview with News Central, the singer vowed never to apologise, insisting Okpebholo had no right to attack a sitting governor who, in his view, was performing better.
Davido also issued an open letter on Instagram, challenging the governor to “get prepared” for him.
The fallout has now led to the ban on Davido’s performances in Edo, intensifying tensions between the musician and the state government in the aftermath of the Osun election.
