Former Senator Shehu Sani has described the ongoing Osun State governorship election as a defining moment for incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, warning that the political odds are stacked against him.
In a post on his verified X account, Sani observed that leading figures of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were present in Osun to bolster their candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, while prominent opposition leaders were noticeably absent.
“All the big shots of the ruling party are in the state the governorship election is taking place. The big shots of the opposition are somewhere else, leaving the incumbent Governor to battle for his life,” Sani wrote.
He likened Adeleke’s situation to “a zebra surrounded by a pride of lions in the National Geographic Channel.”
His remarks came as vote counting and sorting continued across polling units following the close of voting.
The contest is widely seen as a tight race between Adeleke of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and APC candidate Oyebamiji, with ADC candidate Najeem Salaam also seeking to make an impact.
