Opposition Must Win Through People, Not Federal Backing – Bala Mohammed

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, has cautioned opposition politicians against banking on federal influence to secure electoral victories, stressing that Nigeria has moved beyond the era of political imposition.

Speaking on Monday after casting his ballot at Model Central Primary School, Yalwan Duguri in Alkaleri Local Government Area during the ongoing local government elections, Mohammed said recent developments, including the Osun State governorship election proved that federal might no longer guarantees success at the polls.

He criticized opposition parties that boycotted the council elections, describing it as a tactical blunder.

“If you sit at home and expect the Federal Government to hand you victory, you are mistaken. President Tinubu is showing that he is a democrat,” Mohammed said.

Citing Governor Ademola Adeleke’s victory in Osun, he emphasized that voters now hold decisive power:“You saw what happened in Osun; the people voted and their votes counted. No one is going to install leaders here democracy means the people decide.”

Mohammed urged parties to engage directly with citizens rather than depend on external influence, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to free, fair, and competitive elections across Bauchi State.
