Obi, Kwankwaso Meet NDC Governorship Candidates Ahead of 2027 Elections

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have met with the party’s governorship candidates for Bauchi, Sokoto, and Borno States as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

The meeting, held at Kwankwaso’s residence in Maitama, Abuja, brought together Bauchi candidate Ibrahim Kashim, Sokoto candidate Dr. Shamsu Aliyu, and Borno candidate retired Admiral Sunusi Ibrahim.

According to a statement by the NDC on Monday, the session provided an opportunity to “discuss strategies, assess readiness for the upcoming elections,” with emphasis on coordinated campaigns aimed at securing victory across all levels.

Also present were party leaders including Buba Galadima, Kebbi State Chairman Alhaji Mustapha Umar, and Sokoto State Chairman Alhaji Bello Yabo.

The party said the discussions focused on strengthening campaign structures and ensuring greater coordination among candidates in northern states.

Obi and Kwankwaso’s joint ticket was formally endorsed at the NDC’s special convention in Abuja in May 2026, as the party intensifies efforts to build momentum ahead of the polls.
