Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has disclosed that his monthly salary is ₦503,000, significantly lower than that of senior civil servants in the state.
Speaking at an event in Asaba in a video that has since gone viral, Oborevwori explained that a Permanent Secretary earns ₦900,000 monthly, while the Head of Service receives ₦1 million.
“Today, a Permanent Secretary’s salary is more than the governor’s. Your salary is ₦900,000; my salary is ₦503,000. Head of Service is ₦1 million,” he said.
The governor also reminded the audience that Delta was among the first states to implement the national minimum wage.
Delta State, one of Nigeria’s highest recipients of allocations from the Federation Account due to its oil-producing status, received part of the ₦16 trillion shared among federal, state, and local governments in the first seven months of 2026.
