The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Lagos Zonal Directorate 1, has arraigned two men before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi over allegations of unlawfully disclosing and supplying sensitive bank access credentials.
The defendants, Gideon Bakpa Aghogho and Oscar Ebere Chukwuebuka, appeared before Justice F.N. Ogazi on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. A third suspect, identified as Scott, remains at large.
According to the EFCC, the trio face an eight-count charge under Sections 27 and 28(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, Etc.) Act, 2015 (amended in 2024).
The charges include the unauthorized supply of credentials capable of granting access to a bank database.
Prosecutors allege that between July 24 and 26, 2026, Aghogho and Chukwuebuka, in collaboration with Scott, unlawfully supplied an access code for use on FCMB’s system.
The code, described as a local Administrative Credential (ITSD), could provide entry into the FCMB Virtual Center Platform.Another charge accuses Aghogho of disclosing server IP and domain details without authorization between April and May 2025, allegedly in exchange for $15,000.
When the charges were read, Aghogho pleaded not guilty, while Chukwuebuka admitted guilt.
Prosecution counsel Bilkisu Buhari requested that Aghogho be remanded pending trial and sought a review of the facts in Chukwuebuka’s case.
Justice Ogazi adjourned proceedings until August 27, 2026, ordering both defendants to remain in custody until the next hearing.
