With the Osun State governorship election set for Saturday, businessman Isaac Fayose has expressed deep concern over rising reports of political violence and thuggery in the state.
His reaction followed a viral video shared by Afrobeat star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, which purportedly showed the arrest of 11 suspected thugs allegedly linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The suspects were reportedly being transported in an APC campaign vehicle before their arrest.
The footage has heightened fears about security in Osun, where incidents of attacks and killings have been reported in the lead-up to the polls.
Fayose, reacting to the development, warned that Nigeria faces serious challenges if political desperation continues unchecked.
“APC wants to win by force and so they brought thugs to the state. We are in trouble in 2027. If you think we are okay, we are not. Nigerians, you must arise and take your country back,” he said.
He stressed that the situation in Osun could foreshadow wider instability ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Meanwhile, both the APC and Accord Party have traded accusations over alleged violence and attacks in different parts of the state, further intensifying tensions ahead of the vote.
