The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that it has begun reprinting ballot papers and result sheets for the Osun State governorship election to reflect the inclusion of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate, Dr Francis Olugbenga Ajala, and his running mate, Faseke Babajimi Oladipo.
In a statement signed by National Commissioner and Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, INEC said the move was in compliance with a Federal High Court judgment delivered on July 22, 2026, in Suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/344/2026.
The ruling ordered the Commission to recognise and publish Ajala’s candidacy.INEC confirmed that the newly printed ballot papers would arrive in Osun on Thursday, August 13, 2026, and be distributed to local government offices the same day, following standard procedures.
With the addition of the SDP candidate, 15 political parties will now contest the governorship election scheduled for Saturday, August 15, 2026.
The Commission assured political parties, candidates, and the public of its commitment to conducting a free, fair, and credible election, noting that both ballot papers and result sheets are being updated to reflect the court’s directive.
