Hilda Baci, the celebrity chef, has threatened legal action against singer Seyi Vibez over alleged defamation.
Seyi Vibez recently took to X to call out Damiliola
Akinwunmi, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Dapper Music, accusing him of
breaching contracts and engaging in financial impropriety. Akinwunmi and Hilda
are currently in a romantic relationship.
Consequently, the singer also took a swipe at the celebrity
chef, claiming that the label boss was using his signee’s catalogue money to
pay for her Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).
He also alleged that he once ate Hilda’s food and it nearly
killed him.
In a letter dated August 15, Hilda’s legal representatives
accused Seyi Vibez of publishing “defamatory, malicious and false statements”
about their client.
According to the lawyers, the posts had been viewed
approximately 4.3 million times, reposted about 7,100 times, received
approximately 3,000 comments and garnered about 45,000 likes.
The lawyers said the publications had subjected Bassey to
“unwanted, persistent and escalating harassment” across social media, including
unsolicited and abusive messages and comments.
The lawyers further argued that Seyi Vibez’s actions
constituted legal violations, including libel and offences prohibited under the
Cybercrimes Act, as amended.
They demanded that Seyi immediately remove and permanently
delete the two posts and any other content relating to the alleged defamatory
statements.
The lawyers further demanded a “clear and unequivocal public
apology and retraction” across all of Seyi Vibez’s social media accounts,
including his X account.
The letter gave Seyi Vibez three days from the receipt of
the document to provide a written undertaking confirming that he would cease
and desist from publishing or circulating any defamatory, false, malicious,
disparaging, injurious or unlawful statements concerning Hilda.
“Confirming that you shall henceforth cease and desist from
publishing, communicating, repeating, reposting, circulating, or causing or
permitting the publication or dissemination of any defamatory, false,
malicious, disparaging, injurious or otherwise unlawful statement or content
concerning our Client, whether directly or through any third party or account
under your control; and attesting to your full compliance with the demands set
out herein,” the letter reads.
Seyi Vibez has now deleted all the erring posts from his X
pages.
