Toyosi Adesanya, the Nigerian actress, has shared an update on the ongoing treatment and support for Taiwo Hassan, her colleague popularly known as ‘Ogogo’.
Earlier, the family of Ogogo cried out on social media over
the actor’s battle with stage four cancer.
Kira, one of the daughters, said the family discovered that
her father had cancer about three weeks ago, adding that the condition had
affected his abdomen.
She said some medical institutions had told the family that
they could no longer administer chemotherapy to the actor and appealed for
recommendations for alternative treatment options.
She also acknowledged the support of Solomon Adeola, senator
representing Ogun West, who she said had been helping the family with medical
bills.
Lima, another daughter, also said Adeola had promised to
continue supporting the family financially.
She also said Ogogo was not fit to be flown abroad for
treatment, in response to a comment by socialite Yhemo Lee.
In a recent Instagram post, Adesanya said the senator had
extended his gesture by recommending Ogogo to “top cancer specialists”.
The actress also expressed optimism for a successful medical
operation.
“Senator Yayi personally reached out to top cancer
specialists, and we are grateful to learn that Ogogo has now been admitted to
the operating theatre for treatment,” she wrote.
“We pray for a successful procedure, complete recovery,
renewed strength and many more years of good health for our beloved Nollywood
legend.
“A huge thank you to everyone who has prayed, offered
suggestions, shared the appeal and shown concern for Ogogo. May God bless you
all. Ogogo, we are standing with you. You will come out stronger!”
On Tuesday, some colleagues, including Femi Adebayo, Muyiwa
Ademola, and Bimbo Oshin, have also lent their voices to the urgent treatment
of Ogogo.
