The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has published the personal particulars and credentials of 19 presidential candidates and their running mates for the 2027 general election.
The publication of Form EC9 meets the statutory requirement under Section 29(3) of the Electoral Act 2026.
It allows the public to scrutinise the information submitted by candidates ahead of the official start of presidential campaigns on August 19, 2026.
According to the list displayed on Saturday, President Bola Tinubu will contest on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with Vice President Kashim Shettima as his running mate.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and selected former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi as his running mate.
Former Anambra State governor Peter Obi is the candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), with former Kano State governor Rabiu Kwankwaso as his vice-presidential nominee.

Key academic and personal detailsTinubu: Born March 29, 1952. Holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Chicago State University (1979).
Served in the National Youth Service Corps from December 1982 to November 1983. No primary or secondary school details provided.
Shettima: Attended Lamisula I Primary School (1972–1978) and obtained his West African School Certificate from Government Secondary School, Potiskum, in 1983.
Graduated with a Second Class Upper degree in Agriculture from the University of Maiduguri in 1989 and later earned a Master’s in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan.
Atiku: Obtained First School Leaving Certificate in 1954 and West African School Certificate in 1961. Holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from Anglia Ruskin University (2020).
Amaechi: Born May 27, 1965. Attended St. Theresa’s Primary School (1970–1976) and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate from Government Secondary School, Okolobiri, in 1982. Holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Studies and Literature from the University of Port Harcourt (1987), plus further legal qualifications.
Peter Obi: Attended St. Augustine’s Primary School in Anambra and obtained his West African School Certificate from Christ the King College in 1978. Holds a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (1984).
Kwankwaso: Born October 21, 1956. Obtained a Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering (Water Resources) from Kaduna Polytechnic in 1980 (Upper Credit). Completed NYSC between August 1980 and July 1981.
Duke: Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in law from Ahmadu Bello University.Sowore: Holds a BSc in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Lagos (1989–1995) and a master’s degree in public administration from Columbia University in New York.
Notably absent from the list are former President Goodluck Jonathan (nominated by the Tanimu Turaki-led PDP faction) and Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim (who had claimed the Accord Party ticket).
The Accord Party had earlier stated it would not field a presidential candidate after none of its aspirants met the nomination deadline.
The display of these documents opens the period for public scrutiny and potential legal challenges where grounds exist.
