Precision airstrikes conducted under Operation Hadin Kai have neutralised four suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists and destroyed 12 logistics boats around Kangarwa in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State.
Military sources said the operation took place at about 12:55 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, after an intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) mission detected a large concentration of terrorist logistics boats along the riverbank.
Approximately 44 boats were sighted at coordinates around 13.266255°N, 13.657312°E.
Nigerian Air Force aircraft, referred to as the “Phantoms,” carried out the initial strike targeting the boats.
A second aircraft on an armed reconnaissance mission remained overhead and observed terrorists attempting to salvage and load some of the damaged vessels.
The aircraft then conducted a follow-up precision strike on a larger cluster of fighters gathered around the boats.
Battle damage assessment confirmed that four terrorists were neutralised and 12 logistics boats destroyed.
The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by troops of Operation Hadin Kai to disrupt terrorist movements, logistics and freedom of action in the Lake Chad Basin.
Waterways in the region are frequently used by insurgent groups to transport personnel, weapons, food supplies and other materials between locations.
Aircraft crews remained overhead after the strikes to monitor further activity and provide continued surveillance.
The military stated that operations will continue to deny terrorist groups access to critical routes and logistics networks while supporting ground forces in the North-East.
