A fire out break on Friday razed two residential flats at Yalenguruza Quarters, opposite MacConnels Hotel in Gombe State, destroying property estimated at about N80 million.
The Federal Fire Service, Gombe State Command, confirmed the incident in a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, ASF MB Mu’azu.
According to the statement, the command received a distress call at 3:03 pm and deployed its FFS 215 Multipurpose Water Tender from the ATM Fire Station within minutes.
Firefighters arrived at 3:15 pm to find the blaze consuming two flats comprising several rooms.
The crew immediately launched firefighting operations and successfully extinguished the fire using a medium jet supplied from the water tender.
The service noted that its swift intervention prevented the flames from spreading further, saving property worth an estimated N150 million. No casualties were recorded.
The operation was led by ASF I. Gambo Mohammed, with ASFII Mu’azu Tagwai as driver, supported by personnel from the Gombe State Fire Service and officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Gona Division.
After the fire was contained, responders inspected the premises to ensure no lingering threats before returning to base at 5:38 pm.
The command urged residents to remain vigilant, adopt basic fire safety measures, and promptly report emergencies to the nearest fire station to minimize losses.
