Former Ekiti State governor, Ayodele Fayose, has praised Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi as a “fantastic Nigerian,” but insists there is no hope for him in the 2027 elections.
Speaking on TVC’s Politics Tonight on Tuesday, Fayose argued that Obi’s departure to the NDC and Atiku Abubakar’s stay in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) fractured the opposition, leaving them weakened.
“The day Obi left for the NDC and Atiku remained in the ADC, they both lost. That hope was dashed when they went their separate ways,” Fayose said.
He noted that Obi’s strategies from 2023 are now well-known, making it harder for him to surprise opponents.
Fayose stressed that unless the opposition unites, they will continue to lose against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Highlighting the strength of APC leaders, Fayose pointed to Muhammadu Buhari’s voter base and Bola Tinubu’s influence as examples of how unity secured power.
“If the current opposition can’t achieve that, this election has come and gone again,” he concluded.
