EFCC to Continue NFF Probe Despite Gusau, Board Members’ Resignations

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that it will press ahead with its investigation into the N12 billion Federal Government intervention fund released to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

EFCC spokesman Dele Oyewale stated on Thursday that the probe remains active. “Investigation is ongoing on the matter,” he said.

The fund, approved by President Bola Tinubu in 2024, was meant to clear outstanding wages and bonuses owed to players of Nigeria’s national teams.

Some officials linked to the funds are understood to have already been questioned by the anti-graft agency.

The development comes as Ibrahim Gusau resigned as NFF president on Thursday, along with some board members. Gusau had served for three years and 11 months and was preparing to seek re-election in September.
