The General Secretary of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Emmanuel Ugboaja, is dead.
According to reports, the development was disclosed in a letter from the late General Secretary’s family to members of the NLC National Executive Council (NEC).
NLC President Joe Ajaero made the letter public.Ugboaja was the fifth General Secretary of the NLC.A veteran trade unionist and lawyer, he was appointed to the position in August 2019.
Born on May 15, 1966, he obtained a law degree from the University of Calabar in 1987.According to the NLC’s historical biography, Ugboaja was the first Nigerian lawyer to work full-time for a trade union.
