National Director, Media Monitoring and Rapid Response of the City Boy Movement, Bashir Ahmad, has denied widespread claims that he got only 16 votes during the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in 2022.
The conversation surrounding Bashir’s failure to secure the
APC ticket during the House of Representatives primary election in 2022
resurfaced on Thursday.
Afrobeat singer, David Adeleke, known by his stage name
Davido, had in a viral post on Thursday mocked the APC chieftain, claiming that
he scored 16 votes in his primary election.
Clearing the air, Bashir in a post on his official X handle
on Friday, said no credible primary election was held, stating that there was
evidence of how the process was rigged.
According to him, if the process was credible, he would have
won the election, urging Davido and his supporters to refrain from spreading
the claim.
He said, “I feel it is important to say this unequivocally
that it is simply not true that I got 16 votes.
“The reality is that there was no credible primary election
in the first place.
“If there had been, I am very confident I would have been
the winner. There is verifiable evidence of how the process was rigged,
including videos and other materials that support my claim.
“Therefore, any figures being circulated by Davido, his
supporters or anyone else from that purported exercise are misleading and do
not reflect a transparent, legitimate or credible primary election.
“The full story will be told at the appropriate time”.
