The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi State has confirmed Dr. Ideyi Prince Gamax as its candidate for the Ebonyi South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Gamax, who stood as the sole aspirant, polled 450 votes in a substitution primary conducted at the party’s state secretariat on Thursday, August 20, 2026.
The exercise was supervised by security agencies, the media, and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Announcing the result, ADC Deputy Chairman in the state, Dr. Victor Uduma, said party members enthusiastically endorsed Gamax to represent them.
State Chairman Dr. Jennifer Adibe-Nwafor explained that the substitution primary was directed by the party’s national leadership following adjustments to earlier processes.
Speaking after his emergence, Gamax expressed confidence in the ADC’s chances, noting that consultations across the district showed strong support for change.
“Our people are eager for change, and they are looking at ADC as a vehicle to bring about this change and give us the kind of representation that will benefit our people,” he said.
Adibe-Nwafor dismissed reports of parallel primaries, insisting the exercise conducted under her supervision was the authentic one.
She also confirmed that the ADC would participate in the Ebonyi State local government elections scheduled for August 22, 2026.
The development positions Gamax as the ADC’s flagbearer in Ebonyi South, as the party intensifies preparations for the 2027 polls.
