House of Representatives Minority Leader, Fred Agbedi, has expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would secure victory in the 2027 general elections if former President Goodluck Jonathan contests.
Agbedi made the remark on Monday during an interview on Arise Television’s Morning Show, where he discussed the party’s preparations for the polls despite its internal crisis.
“With former President Jonathan on the ballot, PDP will win in 2027. While we can agree that he has not mentioned running, he has also not ruled out the possibility,” Agbedi said.
He noted that the question of whether the Wike faction or the Taminu Turaki faction of the PDP will produce the party’s presidential candidate is yet to be resolved, but expressed optimism that the outcome would favor his camp.
It will be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently rejected Jonathan’s nomination submitted by the Turaki faction, insisting that all nominations must be processed through its designated online portal in line with electoral regulations.
