The Minister of Defence, retired Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa, has formally joined the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign structure ahead of the 2027 elections after being named Secretary I of the party’s Presidential Campaign Council.
In a statement released on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media, Leah Katung-Babatunde, Musa thanked President Bola Tinubu and the APC leadership for the confidence shown in him. He described the appointment as a call to higher service and pledged to carry out the role with diligence and focus.
Musa made clear that his primary duty remains the constitutional responsibility of defending Nigeria’s territorial integrity and protecting the lives and property of citizens. “National security remains our highest imperative,” he said. “The ongoing operations, strategic reforms, and inter-agency collaborations across the defence sector will continue unabated with increased vigour.
“Our resolve to uphold the mandate of the Ministry of Defence, protect our people, and drive Mr. President’s vision for a safe and prosperous Nigeria remains firm and unshakeable.”
He also urged party members and Nigerians to stay united behind the administration, expressing confidence that the APC would succeed at the polls while continuing to deliver effective governance and security nationwide.
