Zamfara Won’t Negotiate With Bandits - Gov. Lawal

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has declared that his administration will not negotiate with bandits, insisting that military operations will continue until the criminals surrender or face justice.

Speaking through his Chief of Staff, Mukhtar Musa, at the inauguration of the Association of Zamfara State Indigenes Residing in Kaduna secretariat on Sunday, Lawal reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ending insecurity through sustained collaboration with security agencies.

“The governor will never negotiate with bandits. Those willing to surrender should do so or face the law,” Musa said.

He explained that the state government would continue to provide logistics, equipment, and operational support to security forces, stressing that intelligence from residents remained vital in the fight against insecurity.

Citizens were urged to report suspicious movements to security agencies promptly. The event also featured the distribution of food items to less-privileged members of the association, with Musa announcing a ₦5 million donation from the Zamfara State Government to support its activities.

Association Chairman Garba Balarabe described the inauguration as a historic milestone, noting that the new secretariat would serve as a hub for unity and welfare among Zamfara indigenes in Kaduna.

Other speakers, including Zamfara Commissioner for Environment Abdulrahman Tumbido and National President of the association Usman Balarabe, expressed optimism that peace would soon return to Zamfara and called for greater unity among indigenes across Nigeria.
