Wike: Infrastructure Projects in Abuja Are Our Strongest Campaign Tools for 2027

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that the ongoing delivery of major infrastructure projects across Abuja is already doing the heavy lifting for political campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking on Wednesday during an inspection of the Arterial Road N16 and the Tunga Madaki–Zuba road projects, Wike emphasized that tangible results on the ground matter more to voters than political talk.

He assured that political activities would not derail his administration’s focus on completing key developmental projects in the territory.

According to the minister, the FCT administration’s visible achievements provide a strong record of performance that can be proudly presented to Nigerians.

“Voters are more interested in tangible results than political rhetoric,” Wike said, noting that the government has delivered on many promises through accelerated infrastructure development.

Progress on Key ProjectsWike expressed satisfaction with the advancement of the Arterial Road N16, a vital route connecting Jahi, Gwarimpa, and Karsana.

He revealed that the contractor, CBC Global, has committed to completing the road by January, with assurances of adequate funding to meet the deadline.

He also commended the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation for its work on the 7.3-kilometre Tunga Madaki–Zuba road. Despite weather challenges, the project remains on track for completion by December.

Approval has been given for relocating electricity poles to enable streetlight installation along the route.

Wike praised Chinese construction firms operating in the FCT for their confidence in the government, often mobilizing to sites even before receiving full funds.

He pledged continued funding for critical projects and urged contractors to uphold high standards and adhere to timelines.

The inspections, he added, align with efforts to fast-track infrastructure under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, positioning the FCT for accelerated development ahead of future elections.
