The Special Adviser on Communication and Strategy to Kebbi State Governor, Abdullahi Idris, has justified Governor Nasir Idris’ backing of President Bola Tinubu, insisting the governor has both a moral and political duty to rally support for Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
In a statement titled “In Defence of Governor Idris’ Support for President Tinubu” released on Monday, the aide, Sadaukin Zuru, highlighted the benefits Kebbi State has enjoyed under its alignment with the APC-led Federal Government.
He noted that Governor Idris’ victory in the 2023 governorship election under the APC was a clear endorsement of his labour union background, public service record, and commitment to development.
Zuru further explained that President Tinubu had strengthened Kebbi’s ties with the Federal Government by allowing Governor Idris to recommend qualified indigenes for appointments to federal boards and commissions—reversing what he described as years of exclusion.
The aide also praised Tinubu’s responsiveness to Kebbi’s concerns, including cases of unjust removal of indigenes from federal positions. He credited the cordial relationship with Abuja for bolstering security efforts in the state, citing federal support for agriculture and food security as additional gains.
“These achievements prove that Kebbi benefits most when it stands firmly with the APC at the centre,” Zuru said, while stressing that the governor’s support for Tinubu does not infringe on citizens’ democratic rights.
He reaffirmed that Nigerians remain free to vote according to conscience and candidate track record, but urged APC members in Kebbi to mobilise ahead of 2027.
“As we approach 2027, Governor Nasir Idris is calling on all APC members and lovers of progress in Kebbi to mobilise massively for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election. The centre is listening to Kebbi, and we must keep that door open,” he added.
