Troops Rescue Two Abductees Who Escaped Terrorist Camp in Borno

Troops of the 82 Division Task Force Battalion have successfully rescued two individuals who escaped captivity from a terrorist enclave in Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.

Military sources revealed that the victims were discovered at about 6:50 a.m. on July 16, wandering near Armuda Bridge during routine patrols.

The troops immediately secured them and provided initial assistance.During debriefing, the escapees explained that they fled from a camp in the Agapalwa area, exploiting confusion within the enclave.

They noted that the camp had become disorganized, with its leadership weakened after recent military offensives that left many fighters injured or on the run.

Their accounts align with intelligence assessments suggesting that sustained operations under Operation HADIN KAI have significantly degraded terrorist strongholds in southern Borno.

The rescued victims are now in safe custody, undergoing medical evaluation and further questioning to extract actionable intelligence.

Military officials emphasized that troops remain committed to maintaining pressure on insurgent networks to facilitate more rescues and dismantle remaining enclaves.
