Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Lungi, Sierra Leone, on Sunday to participate in the 69th Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Heads of State and Government Summit.
Shettima was welcomed at the Sierra Leone International Airport by the country’s Vice President, Dr. Mohamed Jalloh, alongside Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Sola Enikanolaiye.
Other dignitaries present included Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Sierra Leone, Amb. Ayo Luther-Ogbomode; Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas), Ekperikpe Ekpo; and Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to ECOWAS, Amb. Olawale Awe.
The summit brings together West African leaders, diplomats, and development partners to deliberate on pressing regional issues such as peace, security, economic integration, and sustainable development.
Nigeria’s participation highlights its commitment to regional diplomacy and its determination to strengthen cooperation among ECOWAS member states.
