Real Reason I Suspended My ADC Membership – Salihu Lukman

Salihu Lukman, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has revealed that he suspended his membership of the party out of frustration.

Lukman disclosed this on Friday during an appearance on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

He stressed the urgent need for unity among opposition leaders to address Nigeria’s pressing national challenges, emphasising that the focus should be on the country rather than partisan interests.

The former Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) said he remains willing to rejoin the ADC if doing so would foster a united front capable of producing a credible candidate who can win the confidence of Nigerians, regardless of party lines.

“I suspended my ADC membership out of frustration. I am not speaking as an ADC member because Nigeria is facing a serious challenge,” Lukman stated.

“Partisan politics will not get us out of the situation we are in. I am prepared to retain my ADC membership if it helps bring all the party’s leaders together, because Nigeria is bigger than the ADC.”

His comments come amid ongoing realignments and discussions within opposition parties as the 2027 general elections approach.
