Police Rescue Kidnapped Mother and Toddler in Kwara Forest

The Nigeria Police Force has rescued a 43-year-old woman, Adijat Kuburat, and her two-year-old son, Abdul Malik Hamzat, from kidnappers’ hideout in Kwara State.

According to a statement by Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Anietie Iniedu, operatives from the Force Intelligence Department, Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT), supported by local security groups, launched a tactical operation on Saturday in Bode Sadu forest following credible intelligence.

When officers approached the hideout, the kidnappers opened fire in an attempt to resist arrest. The operatives responded swiftly, forcing the criminals to retreat deeper into the forest.

A thorough search of the area led to the safe recovery of the victims.“The rescued individuals have since been transported to a medical facility, where they are receiving necessary treatment and care, while efforts are being intensified to capture the fleeing suspects and dismantle the criminal network responsible for the abduction,” the statement said.

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, commended the bravery and professionalism of the officers involved, reaffirming the Force’s commitment to combating kidnapping and violent crimes through intelligence-led and collaborative operations.

The police also urged residents to provide timely information on suspicious movements to aid ongoing efforts against criminal networks.
