PFIPC Scandal: Suing Adeniyi Will Not Work, Tinubu, DSS, EFCC Should Investigate – Onochie

Lauretta Onochie, former aide to late President Muhammadu Buhari, has criticized President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, for rushing to court against Adeyemi Adeniyi, the self-styled Director General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Onochie argued that legal action will not silence Adeniyi’s allegations and insisted that Tinubu, alongside the Department of State Services (DSS), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the police, should investigate the claims instead.

Adeniyi had accused Gbajabiamila of demanding a 48% kickback from a ₦27.3 billion grant to PFIPC. He further alleged that ₦400 million was paid to Gbajabiamila through a proxy, with another ₦200 million outstanding.

Though Adeniyi was arrested and later released, Gbajabiamila subsequently filed a defamation suit against him.

Reacting on X, Onochie wrote:
“Rushing to Court to shut Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi up ain’t gonna work. He alleged Gbaja demanded a 48 percent kickback from a ₦27.3 billion grant. I believe him. He also claimed to have paid ₦400 million through a proxy and owed ₦200 million more. I believe him.”

She further questioned why oversight agencies failed to verify activities within Gbajabiamila’s alleged “personal agencies,” including the National Lottery Commission, accusing the National Assembly of complicity in looting under the guise of oversight functions.
