The House of Representatives Ad Hoc Committee investigating the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) has declared the appointment letter presented by its self-acclaimed Director-General, Adeniyi Adeyemi, as fraudulent.
Committee Chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, revealed this during Wednesday’s investigative hearing in Abuja.
He noted that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, confirmed the documents submitted by Adeyemi were not genuine.
“It was established that the so-called letter of appointment was fake, confirmed by different agencies. The Act presented to the Head of Service was equally forged by the DG,” Gagdi stated.
Walson-Jack appeared before the panel for the second time to make her final submissions. Also present were Deputy Commissioner of Police Olufemi Akinola and Assistant Commissioner of Police Bashir Abdullahi, representing the Inspector-General of Police.
Adeyemi himself was absent, despite lawmakers directing the IGP earlier in the week to produce him within 48 hours.
The committee had described the establishment and operation of the disputed council as a “serious breach,” stressing that Adeyemi’s presence was crucial to explain how the body allegedly gained official recognition and processed government correspondence.
