Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Ganduje argued that the proposed alliance lacks the necessary political strength, governance experience, and legacy to win support in Kano, a key electoral battleground.
“I don’t think Peter Obi and Kwankwaso’s ticket will succeed in Kano. It will not succeed. In fact, it is dead on arrival,” Ganduje stated bluntly.
He questioned former Anambra Governor Peter Obi’s record, asking, “What did he do as a governor? What legacy did he leave as a governor?”
Ganduje added that Obi has not demonstrated sufficient experience in governance to lead Nigeria at the national level.
Addressing Kwankwaso, who previously served as Kano governor, Ganduje pointed out that unlike himself and former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, Kwankwaso did not secure two consecutive terms in office.
He argued that Kwankwaso has not built a compelling legacy that would persuade Kano residents or Nigerians at large of his suitability for the vice-presidential role.
Ganduje reiterated that the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket under the NDC stands little chance in Kano and is effectively unworkable from the outset.
This strong criticism comes amid ongoing political realignments and speculation about opposition strategies for the 2027 polls.
