Oyebanji Approves Enhanced Salaries, Official Vehicles for Ekiti Headmasters-General

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has approved a new consolidated salary structure and official vehicles for the three Headmasters-General overseeing primary education in the state.

The Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Prof. Femi Akinwumi, announced the approval in a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.

The beneficiaries are Mrs Monisola Oguntamore (Ekiti Central), Mr Isaac Ogunleye (Ekiti South), and Mrs Bola Omotoso (Ekiti North), who were appointed in June 2025.

According to Akinwumi, the governor’s decision aims to strengthen administrative leadership, improve school supervision, and boost service delivery in public primary schools across Ekiti.

Oyebanji recognises the critical role the Headmasters-General play in driving quality teaching, learning, and effective monitoring at the basic education level.

“The consolidated salary structure and official vehicles will enhance mobility, improve monitoring of schools, boost morale, and attract competent hands to leadership positions in the basic education sub-sector,” the governor was quoted as saying.

Prof. Akinwumi noted that the approval aligns with the state government’s broader commitment to basic education, including teacher recruitment, timely payment of salaries and pensions, classroom renovations, provision of learning materials, and ongoing professional development for teachers.

He described the Headmasters-General as the “engine room” of basic education administration and urged them to justify the investment through diligence, transparency, and dedication to duty.

The move is expected to eliminate operational challenges and enhance effective supervision of public primary schools in the state.

The government has also continued its policy of free and compulsory basic education while partnering with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and other stakeholders to improve infrastructure and learning outcomes.
